Jeremy Ford (SFS'96, MBA'05), co-founder and managing partner of Manet Capital, spoke at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business for the 2024 Steers Center for Global Real Estate McBride Lecture Series event – an annual speakers series that brings top leaders in the real estate industry to meet with students, discuss trends, and share insights with the community.
Ford sat down with Matthew Cypher, director of the Steers Center, in front of over 70 undergraduate and graduate students to discuss how to chart your career path, build your foundation, and manage relationships. Ford emphasized the importance of exploring the world and pursuing a global understanding.
Ford also discussed the growing use of technology within the real estate industry, his work advising early-stage firms on navigating different real estate organizations, and his work with private equity real estate firms or corporate strategy.
“Technology has an opportunity to create a huge impact in the real estate industry, which is still largely analog,” said Ford. “The challenge thus far has been to balance the large investment necessary to slowly build a foundation with the need for quick returns, especially with rising interest rates post-pandemic.”
The event concluded with a Q&A session and a reception where Ford engaged with Georgetown real estate students.
The McBride Lecture Series was launched in September 2014 thanks to a generous gift from the McBride family to bring standout real estate professionals to McDonough to share their experiences and insights with real estate students.
