The Steers Center has been instrumental to my professional development starting with my involvement in Georgetown University’s Public Real Estate fund my freshman fall. My training and experience as an analyst within the fund allowed me to attain pre-professional experience relevant towards an internship in investment sales at Harbert Multifamily Advisors during my freshman summer. Leveraging the alumni network of the Steers Center, along with the guidance of professor Matthew Cypher, allowed me to connect with Steers Center alum Ted Shin and further my experience in real estate finance with an internship at Capitol Hill Group in public real estate investing. On the private real estate side, the Steers Center’s undergraduate real estate course and the creation of the Steers Private Fund allowed me to gain hands-on experience in financial modeling/underwriting and the development of an investor’s mindset most helpful during my junior year summer internship at Starwood Capital Group in the Real Estate acquisitions team. As I continue to pursue a career in the real estate finance industry, I look forward to continuing the lifelong connections made through the Steers Center and espousing the values of ESG and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as I work and mentor in the next generation’s environment of real estate investing.
