Our mentorship program pairs students with alumni industry professionals for the purpose of building relationships and sharing industry best practices. This program is a great opportunity to learn from professionals, gain unique experience, and build meaningful relationships. Our students have the opportunity to partner with alumni mentors who can help them:

  • Identify career paths;
  • Establish a path forward within the real estate industry; and
  • Understand the nuances of each aspect of the real estate industry.

From interview tips and business etiquette to assimilating skills and establishing personal and professional goals, mentors provide students with invaluable industry insight that helps them develop successful business relationships, obtain jobs, and quickly advance to leadership positions.

The Steers Center has been instrumental to my professional development, starting with my involvement in Georgetown University’s Public Real Estate Fund, which helped me secure an internship in investment sales at Harbert Multifamily Advisors during my freshman summer. Leveraging the alumni network of the Steers Center, along with the guidance of Professor Matthew Cypher, allowed me to connect with Steers Center alumni and further my experience in real estate finance with an internship at Capitol Hill Group in public real estate investing. On the private real estate side, the Steers Center’s undergraduate real estate courses and the creation of the Steers Private Fund helped me develop hands-on experience in financial modeling/underwriting.
