Overview

The M.S. in Global Real Assets program (MS-GRA) prepares you to be competitive in tomorrow’s marketplace. The program integrates concepts of real assets, infrastructure, global capital flows, and sustainability to equip graduates to understand the changing real estate investing landscape and be highly competitive in the job market. Through small class sizes, experiential learning opportunities, and connections to a vast network of alumni and industry leaders, you will gain the knowledge and connections to build a career with real-world impact.

What are global real assets?

Real Assets are the raw materials and structures that drive economic growth, including real estate, infrastructure, and alternative energy.

Curriculum in Detail

Immersive Experience

Opening Residency: The MS-GRA opening residency is an intensive experience to understand the foundational concepts of real assets, business, and law. Over the course of three weeks,  you will take Ethical Leadership, Principles of Real Assets, and  Real Property Law, which include both theoretical discussions and the opportunity to apply these topics in real-world settings.

Global Experience Trip: The program includes a global experience, where you will embark on a week-long experiential learning opportunity abroad to network with industry professionals and experience the dynamics of global real assets in another country.

General Business

As a joint program between the McDonough School of Business and the Steers Center for Global Real Estate, the MS-GRA offers a general business core education with courses including Accounting for Sustainability Management, Finance for Sustainability Management, Managerial Statistics, and Firm Analysis and Strategy.

Commercial Real Estate

Commercial real estate is the core of Steers Center’s capabilities, and as a result, the real estate curriculum for the MS-GRA program draws heavily from courses that have been successfully taught for over a decade at Georgetown McDonough, including Real Estate Private Equity, Real Estate Public Equity, and Real Estate Private Debt. Our highly successful clinic courses in multifamily and commercial real estate are also included to provide exposure to live underwriting deals and tools such as ARGUS.

Infrastructure

To provide a solid foundation within the rapidly growing field of real assets,  you will take a variety of infrastructure courses including  Infrastructure Finance, Housing Markets and Social Infrastructure, Digital Infrastructure, and Transportation Infrastructure to understand all of the physical structures that make up our environment, as well as their broader implications.

Sustainability

Real assets contribute to 40% of global greenhouse gas emissions – as a result, there is no sustainable future without incorporating sustainable practices in the industry. To tackle this issue,  the MS-GRA program offers a series of sustainability-focused courses, including Decarbonization and Real Assets and The Business of Sustainable Energy, to learn how to optimize resources to support the environmental, social, and economic development of our world.
