Dan Altscher

Assistant Portfolio Manager & Co-Head of Macro Research

Mr. Altscher joined FJ Capital Management in 2016. His responsibilities include investment research and portfolio management, with a primary focus in non-bank financials and real estate. Prior to joining FJ Capital Management, Altscher was a Senior Research Analyst, Senior Vice President at publicly traded FBR & Co. in equity research. Prior to his work at FBR & Co., Altscher was an Investment Analyst at Hovde Capital Advisors, a long/short investment manager focused on financial services and real estate. Altscher has an MBA from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. He also has a BS from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business with a dual major in Finance and International Business, and a minor in History.

Larry Botel (B’88)

Founding Partner, JOSS Realty Partners

Larry Botel founded JOSS Realty Partners in 2005. Since inception JOSS has acquired 22 office assets totaling over 3 million square feet with a value in excess of $1 billion. Prior to JOSS, he spent three years as the chief operating officer at Broadway Partners, where he brought Broadway from a sole proprietorship with limited operating capability to a full-service real estate investment company owning 3.6 million square feet of commercial office space valued at over $850 million. From 1997-1999 he was  vice president and head of real estate at Fortress Investment Group/UBS Global Principal Group/BlackRock Capital Finance. He is also a member of the Board of Advisors at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. Botel received his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 1993 and a B.S. in Business Administration from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business in 1988.

William C. Grubbs Jr.

Managing Director, Head of U.S. Funds Management, Invesco

Bill Grubbs joined Invesco in 2005 and has 27 years of real estate experience. He is the lead portfolio manager for Invesco Core Real Estate, IRE’s U.S. Open-End U.S. Core commingled fund. In addition, Grubbs oversees Funds Management for the U.S. direct real estate group. Prior to joining Invesco, Grubbs was with the investment firm of Bailard, Biehl & Kaiser (BB&K), (San Francisco Bay Area), where he directed BB&K’s real estate investment program for six years including serving as the president and chief operating officer of the BB&K Real Estate Investment Trust (BB&K REIT). Grubbs received an MBA, with distinction, from the University of Michigan and a B.S. degree from Colorado State University.

Matt Kelly

Chief Executive Officer, JBG Smith

JBG Smith from August 2004 until the company went public in 2017 and served as managing partner and a member of JBG’s Executive Committee and Investment Committee from 2008 until their initial public offering. Also, he oversaw the execution of three leases and two Purchase and Sale Agreements with affiliates of, Inc. in conjunction with the creation of Amazon’s HQ2 in Northern Virginia. Kelly received a Bachelor of Arts with honors from Dartmouth College and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

Alex Yaraghi (MBA’17)

Associate Director, Cohen and Steers Capital Management

Alex Yaraghi is an Associate Director with the US Real Estate investment team at Cohen and Steers Capital Management. He is responsible for the team’s investment in US housing, gaming and lodging across the firm’s real estate strategies. Prior to joining Cohen and Steers, Yaraghi was a Senior Associate at Strategic Value Partners (SVP Global), a distressed debt private equity fund. He began his career at PwC with the firm’s Financial Services, Structured Products and Real Estate team in NYC. Yaraghi received a B.S. in Finance from University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business, an MBA from Georgetown University and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
