Undergraduate Student Experience

The Steers Center has a variety of co-curricular offerings for undergraduate students ranging from our undergraduate student funds, career treks, and real estate case competitions. These experiences provide opportunities to learn valuable real estate skills and connect with our vast real estate network and community.

Undergraduate Student Organizations

Georgetown University Public Real Estate Fund (GUPREF)

GUPREF is a student-run organization that invests exclusively in publicly traded REITs and CMBS. The fund currently has $300,000 of assets under management. In addition, GUPREF prepares its students for careers in the real estate and finance industry by providing them with exclusive training sessions, internships, and networking events.

Undergraduate Student Organizations

Steers Private Fund (SPF)

The SPF is a student-led real estate investment fund that operates under a Georgetown University endowment. SPF invests in a variety of real estate asset classes and markets across the United States. The fund made its first investment in the fall of 2021 and has $1 million in assets under management. SPF members demonstrate commitment to the long-term growth and sustainability of the fund by investing in high-conviction assets and maintaining industry/alumni partnerships. Most importantly, SPF prepares its members for careers in real estate by providing them with real-world investment experience in an extracurricular environment.

Undergraduate Real Estate Career Treks

The Steers Center strives to provide a truly unique experience to equip students with the skills and experiences necessary to perform at the highest levels on the national and international real estate stage. Each year, undergraduate students have the opportunity to travel to domestic cities central to the real estate industry. These trips give students an opportunity to connect with Georgetown alumni, have meetings with major industry leaders, and tour various real estate properties and development sites.

Undergraduate Real Estate Case Competitions

McDonough Real Estate Case Competition (M-RECC)

M-RECC is a real estate case competition open to all real estate students to provide an applied experience for students interested in learning more about the real estate industry, gaining experience presenting to an investment committee, and creating a supportive environment where students can practice for the national real estate case competitions.

National Real Estate Case Competitions

The national real estate competitions take place in various cities to give students exposure and learning in different locations across the United States. Undergraduates have an opportunity to participate in invite-only real estate competitions at Villanova University for the Mulroy Real Estate Challenge and Cornell University for the International Cornell Real Estate Case Competition.
